S+P Walters is a commercial law firm servicing clients across Lismore, Ballina, Byron Bay, Casino and the greater Northern Rivers. S+P Walters was formed in 2020 as a result of the merger of S+P Lawyers and Walters Solicitors. The two firms were two of the most highly regarded commercial firms servicing Lismore and the Far North Coast of New South Wales.  The name S+P Walters has become synonymous with quality legal advice. Our practice provides comprehensive legal advice to public and private companies, co-operatives, public authorities and individuals.

S+P Lawyers was established by Elton Stone and Jim Poulos in 1975. At the time it was known as Stone & Poulos. Allan Cowley moved from Sydney a few years later and the firm became known as Stone Poulos & Cowley. As the firm expanded, it became known as Stone & Partners. In 2007, the firm changed its name to S+P Lawyers. Also in that year, Jim Fiford, one of the most experienced lawyers in the Northern Rivers, joined the firm and merged his practice with S + P.

In January 2022, the firm continued its growth by merging with McIntosh Barr & Gordon and in July 2022 merged with Busilaw. This resulted in John Norton, Peter Phillips and Alister Somerville joining the firm. McIntosh Barr & Gordon is one of the oldest firms in Lismore.
